Charlie Smith

d. November 24, 2022

Charlie Smith, 79, of Blitchton, Ga., passed away on November 24, 2022 at home.

Charlie was born on July 8, 1943, to John David and Vidilla Smith in Bulloch County.  He is a retiree from the ILA Local 2046 after 13 years of employment.  On September 14, 1964, he married Bearnease and they had four children.  Charlie was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved.  His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of all his children, grandchildren, and great grand.  Charlie was also a passionate fisherman and could often be found in the river, always trying to catch that Big One.  He also loved old car and truck shows and oldies music.  Anyone who knew Charlie knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for.

Charlie is preceded by his father, John David Smith; mother, Vidilla Smith; sisters, Sarah Hendrix and Hilda Smith; brother, Johnny Ray Smith; and granddaughter, Amanda Lynn Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bearnease Smith; three daughters, Angela Nesmith (Calvin), Sherry Bowen (Steven), and Paulette Muns (Johnny); a son, Dearin Smith (Renee) all of Bulloch County; an honorary daughter, Lynn Ford (Edward) of Blitchton; two sisters, Judy Sikes (Buford) of Collins and Donna Underwood (Gene) of Meldrim; one brother, Danny Smith (Ann) of Ellabell; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6pm-8pm Sunday, November 27th at Deal Funeral Directors.

Funeral services for Charlie Smith will be on Monday, November 28th at 11am in the Chapel of Deal Funeral Directors with burial to follow at Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
