Donald Lynn, age 74, passed away at Landmark Hospital in Savannah, Georgia after an extended illness, surrounded by his loving family on February 17, 2022. Donald was born in Savannah, Georgia to the late Gladston Grady Lynn and Margaret Jones Lynn but was a lifelong resident of Metter where he attended Lower Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church and Excelsior Baptist Church.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, and Army Commendation Medal.
Donald was a homebuilder and electrician, working all over the South. For over fifty years, Donald was co-owner of Lynn Manufacturing in Metter. When he wasn’t working those jobs, he enjoyed the outdoors--doing things like farming, tending his cows and his pecans were considered pleasures and hobbies, not work.
Donald loved his family and will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Donna; his daughters, Mary Melissa Brennan (Lance) of Midway and Melanie Lynn Nessmith (Lee) of Register; his son, James Grady Lynn (Tina) of Blackshear; and his brother, Ronald Lee Lynn (Cheryl) of Metter. His grandchildren were his heart, and Jessica Dowling (Michael), Gatlan Lynn, Tony Nessmith III, Lily Nessmith, MaKayla Brennan, Lane Brennan along with great grandchildren, Finnleigh Dowling and Rosalie will forever cherish their memories of “PaPa”. Donald is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Deal Funeral Directors. The graveside funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at Lower Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Joel Martin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
