Jack Merrick Schwartz, age 84, passed away on October 21, 2022 at Memorial Health in Savannah, Georgia. Jack was born in New York, NY on September 24, 1938 to the late Aaron and Helen Merrick Schwartz. He moved to Georgia in the 1970s to start a carpet mill and here he remained, retiring to Savannah in 1989.
However, Jack didn’t in fact retire but started a new phase in his life. He began an antique gun business, actually making parts for antique guns and becoming a pioneer in his field by selling obscure parts to collectors all over the world. Old guns were not Jack’s only passion. He also enjoyed restoring old homes, cars and collecting antiques.
Jack loved his family and his two German Shepherds, Ginger and Mundo, his little cat, and his bird, a macaw, he has had for more than 40 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann, and his son Jason Schwartz.
He is survived by his daughter, Staci Tyler-White; his granddaughter, Samantha Schwartz and his grandson, Chase Kowalecki.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
