Janette Burt Johnson

Janette Burt Johnson, age 93, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Willow Pond Senior Care in Statesboro, Ga. Janette was born on July 12, 1932, in Thomas County to the late Glenn and Goldie Burt. She attended Ochlocknee High School and was a member of the Ochlocknee Baptist Church. After graduating from Valdosta College for Women, Janette began working at First National Bank in Atlanta.

In 1953, she married her husband Wyatt Malcolm Johnson of Richmond Hill and in 1955 they moved to Statesboro. Wyatt and Janette were married for 57 loving years before his passing in 2010.

Janette was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a choir member for many years. She was also a member of the Rubie Lee-Sadie Lee Circle.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 10:00AM in the Chapel of Deal Funeral Directors with Rev. Mark Burgess officiating. Burial will follow at Ochlocknee City Cemetery in Ochlocknee, GA.
