John Parrish Thompson, age 57, of Statesboro, Georgia, passed away on May 23, 2024, in Savannah, Georgia under the care of Memorial Hospital.
John was born on April 8, 1968, in Statesboro, Georgia to Johnny Thompson and Lynn Taylor Thompson. He graduated from Statesboro High School in 1986 and then attended Georgia Southern University. There, he met the love of his life, Lora. After college, John and Lora moved back to Lora’s home state of West Virginia. John became the CEO of Sullivan Recovery, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Charleston, West Virginia. John and Lora were married for twenty-two loving years before her passing in 2024.
John was a lover of all sports but especially his Georgia teams. He enjoyed cheering on the Bulldogs, Falcons and Georgia Southern Eagles regardless of the sport! When he wasn’t watching sports or a movie, he could be found enjoying a walk with his little brother, Chris Thompson. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Lora Thompson; father, Johnny Thompson; and stepfather, Charles Ranew. He is survived by his mother, Lynn Ranew; brother, Chris Thompson; and nephew, Lane Thompson.
A graveside committal service will be held at East Side Cemetery on June 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM with Father Charles Todd officiating.
