Joseph Harville, Jr., age 85, died Thursday , January 21, 2021 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Joseph was married to the love of his life Mary Frances Stalcup Harville for 64 Years.
He grew up in Statesboro, Georgia and attended Nevils High School. Joseph was a member of the 474 Operating Engineers Union. He ran heavy equipment most of his life, working with Creasy Brothers, Whaler and Miner, Hugh Jackson, Eastern Construction, Allis Chamber—Charles Royal, Vogle Power Plant, Tidewater Construction, and Scott Bridge Construction Company. He was also self-employed and served with the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office from 1972-1977.
Joseph loved his family. He loved cooking because it gave him such pleasure to share with others who enjoyed eating his food as much as he enjoyed cooking it. He loved to go fishing, hunting, camping, gardening, growing sugar cane and making syrup. Helping others and giving to his community was one of his greatest joys. He was happiest when he was doing for others.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Terrell Joseph Harville and Ahmetta Deloach Harville; his brother, Arnold Harville and his sister, Saralyn Harville Zetterower.
He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Mary Harville; his children; Cindy and John Youmans, Lynn and Ricky Bunch, Donna and Randy Lanier, Terry and Michael Harville, Christie and Bill Black all of Statesboro, Georgia; his grandchildren; Travis and Jana Bunch, Jody and Marie Youmans, Brandie and Matt Sowell, Jessica and Georgia Biggers, Julia Youmans, Cora and Steven Barrs, Lenora and Chris Starling, Michael and Samantha Harville II, Avery Harville, Sam Harville, and Andie Jane Black.
Mr. Harville is also survived by sixteen Greatgrandchildren and his siblings; Sue and Edwin Harris, Kenneth and June Harville, Annette and Fred Daniel, Tommy and Donna Harville, Herman and Deborah Harville, Ernie and Brenda Harville, Tamra and Greg Newman, Diane and Mike Herndon, John Ray and Helen Stalcup, Martha Joe Newman; a sister-in-law, Ann Harville and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service is planned for Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Bulloch Memorial Gardens with Elder Mike Newman officiating.
Pallbearers will be Travis Bunch, Jody Youmans, Michael Harville, Avery Harville, Sam Harville, George Biggers, Matt Sowell, and Steven Barrs.
