Preston Jakel Woods

Preston Jakel Woods, 76, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, July 18, 2025. He was born on March 25,1949 in Savannah, Georgia to the late OC Woods of Metter, Georgia and Dorothy Woods of Effingham. “Jake” as many know him, graduated from Groves High School and spent 17 years in the Air National Guard as well as 30+ years with the Department of Corrections for the State of Georgia along with Bulloch County Department of Corrections. He was known for being firm, fair and a godly man. 

Preston is preceded in death by his parents, OC Woods and Dorothy Cook Woods. He is survived by his two sons, Michael Keith Woods and Christopher Lee Woods, as well as his eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, July 24, 2025 in the Chapel of Deal Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Lake Cemetery in Metter, Georgia.
