Shirley E. Dixon

Shirley E. Dixon, age 92, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Browns Health & Rehab in Statesboro, Georgia. Shirley was born in 1933 to the late George and Agnes Herndon in Baxley, Georgia. Shirley was a longtime member of Lawrence Baptist Church. She was a greeter at Sam’s Club for twenty years before her well deserved retirement in 2010. Shirley loved yard work and gardening, and she spent countless hours tending to her yard. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, though her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Roy D. Dixon; her son, Greg Dixon and her daughter, Debby Palmer.

Above all, Shirley cherished time spent with her family. Her home, filled with laughter and love, was the heart of many family gatherings. She was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great-grandmother who imparted wisdom, love, and warmth.

Survivors include her daughter, Janice (Bob) Upchurch of McDonough, Ga.; her son, Craig (Sherry) Dixon of Pembroke, Ga.; six grandchildren, Clint (Mel) Smith, Heather (Robert) Fordham, Kristin (Michael) Stevens, Casey Dixon, Corey Dixon, and Tyler Palmer; six great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; her son-in-law, Terry Palmer; and her sister, Winnice (Dan) Pierce.

Graveside services will be held Friday, Oct. 31, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Lawrence Baptist Church in Pembroke, GA.
