Chris Elliott Marsh Sr. passed away peacefully at The Gardens Senior Living in Statesboro. He was born in Statesboro, GA on December 25, 1948 to Louise and Herman Marsh. Chris graduated from Statesboro High School in 1966, he then received his bachelors and master’s degrees in education from Georgia Southern. For the last 25 years Chris operated his own business, Ogeechee Training Service, where he consulted, trained and taught businesses and people on OSHA compliance, drug and alcohol abuse and drug free workplace. Chris also wrote and published under his second business, Clay Top Publications, where he wrote articles for numerous Human Resource, OSHA, business compliance and addiction magazines. Along the way Chris met Annette who was the love of his life, they were married in July 1971 and shared two sons.
While he enjoyed the business he built from scratch, his true passion was tending the land. Chris and Annette moved to the family farm in 2002 where he grew everything under the sun. If it weren’t for the deer he would’ve been pretty stress free. Chris had a love of fishing and hunting that was instilled from a young age by his father; he passed this love to his sons as well. He worked until his battle with Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body dementia forced him to stay home. He was cared for by his adoring wife until her illness and his advanced state moved him to the Gardens to get the care he needed.
He was a member of First Baptist Church Statesboro and Laborers in Christ class. Also, he was a past member of the Lions Club and Portal Hunting Club.
Chris was preceded in death by his wife Annette and parents, Louise and Herman Marsh.
Surviving Chris are his two sons and their spouses Chris Elliott Marsh Jr. (Christy Harrison) of Statesboro and James Craig Marsh (Krista Waagner) of Greenville, NC. Four grandchildren Adison Elizabeth Marsh, Annalee Grace Marsh, Turner Michael Marsh and Madelyn Elizabeth Marsh. Brother Alan Marsh (Nancy), sister Bonnie Taylor (Robert), brother in law Al Clark (Debbie). Niece Laine Williams Miseje (David), nephews Eric Marsh (Lisa), Tray Baird (Susan), Neil Baird (Summer), John Clark (Shelby) and Rene Clark (Maran). And many great nieces and nephews.
