Johnnie George Underwood

Johnnie George Underwood, age 85, went to be with his Lord on September 23, 2021. In his earlier years, Johnnie had lived in the Stilson area but more recently he had called Metter, Georgia his home.

He loved the land and was a long-time farmer, working many years for Stilson Knight Farms. Later in life, his hobbies included fishing and tending his garden.

Johnnie was a faithful member of Merrywood Baptist Church and lived what he was taught from the Bible. He loved the Lord and he loved people.

Johnnie is survived by his wife of sixteen years, Martha Miles Underwood; his sisters, Shirley Williams of Brooklet, Georgia and Jennette Manning of Chester, Pennsylvania; his brother, Richard Underwood (Allane) of Twin City, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.

The Graveside Service will be Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM at The Newington City Cemetery (West Hill Cemetery), Newington, Georgia.  Pastor Harold Piet will be officiating.
