Mary Ann Dickey

March 19, 1930 — January 14, 2022

Mrs. Mary Ann Kilburn Dickey of Statesboro, GA, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022. She was a native of Sophia, West Virginia, and a 1948 graduate of Sophia High School.

She met Kimsey M. Dickey in 1948 while he was a student of the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL They later married in 1950 and would have four children. She has three living children; Karen D. (Gene) Anderson, Victor L. (Delores) Dickey, Michelle D. (Tony) Rogers, all of Statesboro, and daughter-in-law, Linda Dickey, Grovetown, GA.

She is a member of Ellis Chapel UMC, Screven County, GA, but attended Brooklet First Baptist Church, Brooklet, GA. She was a volunteer at Bulloch Memorial Hospital for a number of years. She and her husband were presidents of the Georgia State Square Dancers. She was a member of the Swing n Ramblers Camping Club. She also managed the Voting Polls at the Kiwanis Fairgrounds for several years.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Lottie Adams Kilburn and John Wilson Kilburn, husband, Kimsey M. Dickey, son, David J. Dickey, sister, Geri K. Markham, twins and great-grandchildren, Graham and Lillian Kaiser. Surviving are ten grandchildren: Bradley S. (Shannon) Anderson, Wesley G. Anderson, Jonathan M. Anderson, Joanna C. Anderson, Kayla R.(Billy) Anderson, Kimberly R. (Josh) Kaiser, Casey D. (Todd) Stichtenoth, Mitchell (Rebekah) Dickey, Jada D.(Caleb) Mock, and Michael C. Dickey. Also, surviving nineteen great-grandchildren: Liam and Elle Anderson, Sophie, Miles, and Naomi Kaiser, Reagan and Nick Anderson, Raylei Nesmith, Sam and Rachel Mock, Kamryn Groomes, all of Statesboro; Drew, Olivia, Miller and Eliot Stichtenoth, all of Athens; Avery, Owen, and Wilkes Dickey, of Bogart. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Deal Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 19, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm with the funeral service following at 2:00 pm in the Chapel. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and the Fellowship Sunday School Class of Brooklet First Baptist Church will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Burial will follow at Bulloch Memorial Gardens.  Services to be officiated by Rev. Bob Crosby and Rev. Dr. Karen Zeigler.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice.
