Randy Durrell Sims

Randy was born in Statesboro, GA, on March 4, 1948 to Elton and Sara Lois Sims, and passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, from complications of COVID. He grew up helping on the family farm. He loved John Deere tractors and country music. Most of his adult life he attended High Hope Center. His life was full of challenges but he was always kind and good natured.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Dennis Sims.

He is survived by a sister, Armenda S. Barnes (Gary W.) of Statesboro, and two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Rex Sims (Angie) of Virginia Beach, VA, James Sims (Melanie) of Statesboro, and Carolyn Sims (Dennis, deceased), seven nieces and three nephews, and many cousins. Also by his friends and “extended family” at High Hope and the caregivers of Pineland Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.

A graveside service will be held at Eastside Cemetery on Saturday, January 30, at 2:00 pm. In respect for each other masks and social distancing will be observed. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pineland BHDD for the High Hope Center.
